Dopamine is a neurotransmitter released by neurons in the brain. It is also called the ''feel good'' hormone, which has been long known to play a major role in driving behavior related to pleasurable goals, such as food, sex and social interaction. For the first time, a new study has found a direct causal link between the neurotransmitter dopamine and avoidance behaviour, which includes behavior in response to pain or fear.
