Pregnant women who are obese are faced with the health risks of obesity that can extend to their unborn child. The World Health Organization estimates that obesity during pregnancy has a prevalence of 1.8% to 25.3%. Women who become obese during or just after their pregnancy have a higher risk of becoming obese in their later life.
