What is Costochondral Syndrome ?  

Acute and temporary inflammation of costal cartilage (that which connects each rib to the sternum at the costosternal joint).


Cause(s) :  
  • Idiopathic
Symptoms :  
  • Chest pain - Sharp and stabbing, worse with movement, exertion and deep breathing
  • Swelling or tenderness in ribs
  • Pain at sternum
  • Breathing trouble
  • Nausea and vomiting
Diagnosis and Tests :  
  • Chest X ray
  • Electrocardiogram
