New Zika Serotypes Identified

New Mutated Zika serotypes may pose a threat to the developing vaccines, and diagnostic methods say leading group of scientists studying Zika-related investigations. The Zika pathogen found in the final stage of the infection wasn''t the same as the virus that entered the patient thereby indicating mutaions in Zika virus serotypes. The alarm was sounded by Edison Luiz Durigon, Full Professor at the University of São Paulo''s Biomedical Science Institute (ICB-USP), in Brazil.
