What is Cervical Syndrome ?  

A group of disorders due to compression of the nerves that end at the cervical bones (first 7 bones of the backbone).


Cause(s) :  
  • Ageing
  • Children less than 8 years with cervical spinal cord injuries
Symptoms :  
  • Frontal chest discomfort, also known as cervical angina
  • Pain in the scapular (shoulder) region
  • Numbness due to “pinched” nerve fibre, eventually death of the nerve fiber
  • Weakness due to compression of nerves
  • Neck pains and headaches
  • Arm pain
  • Inability to move arms or hold something in hand
Diagnosis and Tests :  
  • X-ray of the cervical bones
Specialist to consult :  Neurology
