What is Fitz-hugh-curtis Syndrome ?  

Fitz-hugh-curtis Syndrome, a rare complication of pelvic inflammatory disease involves liver capsule inflammation and creation of adhesions.The condition occurs almost exclusively in women.


Cause(s) :  Caused by gonorrhea or chlamydia bacteria. Thinning of cervical mucus occurs, allowing bacteria from vagina move into the uterus and oviducts, leading to infection and inflammation.

Symptoms :  
  • Abdominal pain - aggravated by breathing, coughing or laughing, radiating to the right shoulder.
Rare symptoms:
  • Nausea
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Vomiting
Diagnosis and Tests :  
  • Abdominal CT
  • Laparoscopy
