Bronchitis is the inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes. These are airways that carry air to the lungs. Acute bronchitis is very common and mostly viral. It can develop from viral infections like common cold or other respiratory infections. Most cases resolve without treatment, typically within 10-20 days.
