Side effects of Subamycin® [Cap]

   Gastrointestinal : Loss of appetite, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bulky loose stools, mouth ulcer, sore throat, tongue inflammation, difficulty in swallowing, hoarseness and inflammatory lesions.

   Skin : Sensitivity to sunlight.

   Genitourinary : Increases in BUN.

   Hypersensitivity : Shock, fever, rash, joint pain, hives and bruising.

   Blood : Anemia, decrease in white blood cells and platelets.

   Miscellaneous : Dizziness and headache.

Dosage & When it is to be taken (Indications)

Adults: Usual daily dose is 1 to 2 gm.
For mild to moderate infections: 500 mg two times per day.
For children above eight years of age: usual daily dose is 10 to 20 mg/lb (25 to 50 mg/kg) body weight divided in four equal doses.

How to use Subamycin® [Cap]?

It comes as a tablet, capsule, oral liquid to take by mouth, on an empty stomach.

When is Subamycin® [Cap] not to be taken? (Contraindications)

Hypersensitivity.

Warnings and Precautions for Subamycin® [Cap]

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of diarrhea, a stomach infection, or kidney problems, any allergies, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• It may cause dizziness or blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

• It may cause stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools; if it is so consult with your doctor.

Other Precautions for Subamycin® [Cap]

Avoid exposure to sunlight.
Avoid excess dosage.

Storage Conditions for Subamycin® [Cap]

Store it at room temperature.
