three private hospitals in Rajasthan's Dausa district carried out 226 hysterectomy surgeries (removal of uterus) out of the 385 female patients who had visited the hospital.
In a shocking revelation it has been found that three
private hospitals in Rajasthan's Dausa district carried out 226 hysterectomy
surgeries (removal of uterus) out of the 385 female patients who had visited
the hospital from March to September in the previous year. The three
controversial hospitals are Madan Nursing Hospital, Sri Balaji Hopspital and
Vijay Hospital.
Through RTI from the office of state medical and health
department it has been revealed that hospital authorities removed the uterus
even when it was not indicated under the pretext that if the patient's do not
undergo surgery the infection will spread to the entire body which can be fatal.
Every patient was charged Rs. 12,000-14,000 for the same.
To investigate into the matter the district administration
has set up a 3-member committee. Investigating medical officer Meena said,
"We have seized the records of five hospitals and process to record
statements of women and doctors is going on. It is too early to establish the
fact that the doctors removed uterus just to extract money and there was no
infection. We are collecting medical investigation reports in the cases to find
out the truth."
