Frequently Asked Questions
1. Whom should I consult for proper guidance about breastfeeding?
You can consult your obstetrician.
2. Which milk is most similar to mother’s milk?
Cow’s milk is believed to be nearer and most similar to mother's milk. Though it varies in the following way-
- Absence of Vitamin E, iron, or essential fatty acids can lead to anemia in infants fed on cow's milk.
- Presence of high amounts of protein, sodium and potassium may put a strain on the infants’ immature kidneys.
- It is difficult to digest and absorb protein and fat in whole cow's milk.
- Cow's milk also lacks the immune factors (antibodies) that help protect infants until their own immune system fully develops.
