How to Take Bemiparin and it's Dose


• Bemiparin sodium is available as pre-filled syringes (2500 units/0.2 ml solution) given as subcutaneous injection.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

Recommended doses:

• For treatment of deep vein thrombosis in adults is 5,000 IU, 7,500 IU or 10,000 IU administered by subcutaneous injection at the dose of 115 IU/ kg/day, once daily, for 7±2 days.
• To prevent blood clots in the veins after general abdominal surgery or orthopedic surgery is 2,500 IU/day and 3500 IU/day respectively administered by subcutaneous injection for 7 to 10 days post surgery.
• To prevent blood clots in non-surgical patients during the risk period is 2,500 IU/ day or 3,500 IU/day by subcutaneous route.
• To prevent clotting during dialysis 2,500 IU or 3,500 IU is usually administered by injecting one bolus dose.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

• Bemiparin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity.

Bemiparin is used for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis with or without pulmonary (lung related) embolism, for the prophylaxis (prevention) of venous thromboembolism in both surgical and non-surgical patients, and for clot prevention in an extracorporeal system during dialysis for the kidneys
