Teneligliptin generic Teneligliptin is prescribed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in adults along with diet and exercise. Teneligliptin works by increasing the insulin released by the pancreas, and it helps in lowering the blood glucose level in the body.

• Teneligliptin is a recently developed oral drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adult patients along with diet and exercise.
• Gastrointestinal: Abdominal bloating, discomfort or pain, intestinal obstruction, nausea, flatulence, stomatitis, gastric and colon polyps, duodenal ulcer, reflux esophagitis, loss of appetite and diarrhea.
• Skin: Eczema, rash, itching, allergic dermatitis

• Kidney: Urine ketone body, urine glucose and urine protein
• Respiratory system: Upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages)
• Central nervous system: Headache
• The recommended dose for teneligliptin is 20 mg daily.
• The dose can be increased to 40 mg daily if the efficacy is insufficient.
• Teneligliptin should be taken orally once daily.
Teneligliptin is contraindicated in patients with
• Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of the components in the formulation.
• Severe ketosis, type 1 diabetes, severe infection, surgery, severe trauma and diabetic coma or a history of it.
• Use teneligliptin only in patients who have not responded sufficiently to diet and / or exercise therapy alone, or diet and /or exercise therapy with the use of sulfonylureas or thiazolidinediones.
• Caution should be taken while prescribing the drug to patients with advanced liver or congestive heart failure, pituitary or adrenal insufficiency, arrhythmia and with congenital QT prolongation syndrome.
• Use caution when prescribing the drug to pregnant women and infants.
• In patients using an insulin secretagogue like sulfonylurea there is a risk of severe hypoglycemia.
• Complete the entire dose of the drug.
• Avoid excess dose.
• Beta blockers and MAO inhibitors can enhance the blood glucose lowering effect of teneligliptin.
• Steroids and thyroid hormones can attenuate the blood glucose effect of teneligliptin.
• Teneligliptin should be stored at room temperature.
