“Onam Sadya” in a Operation Theater? Speculations Arise Over the Incident in Kerala

The embarrassing incident took place at the Medical college hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.Onam feast was reportedly served to the employees of the hospital in the sterile area of the operation theater. The incident soon augmented controversies as the hospital authorities have allegedly violated the basic hygienic norms needed to be maintained in an operation theater.

The meals were served at the theater under the cardiology department near the palliative care section. “As many as 600 employees were served meals at the operation theater and also floral carpets were also laid inside the theater. The celebrations took place under the supervision of the Superintendent,” said the sources.

“We have ordered an inquiry into the incident to find out if it is true or not. The Health Secretary had been asked to conduct the probe,” said V S Sivakumar, Kerala Health Minsiter.

However, College Principal, Dr Thomas Mathew, has denied it saying the ‘sadya’ was held in the canteen.
