Beiersdorf Inc., the maker of body lotion, Nivea, is charged with falsely claiming that the cream will help consumers lose weight.

"As part of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers from over-hyped advertising claims, the Federal Trade Commission reached a settlement requiring Nivea skin cream maker Beiersdorf Inc to stop claiming that regular use of its Nivea My Silhouette! skin cream can significantly reduce consumers' body size," the Daily Mail quoted FTC saying in a statement.
In the advertisement, which was aired across the U.S., a woman is seen applying the cream, before discovering that she can fit into an old pair of jeans.
