High Fat Diet Provides Cardio Protection Action

A high-fat diet for short periods seems to protect the heart. The rat study which was conducted at the University of Cincinnati found that short-term, high saturated fat feedings in mice resulted in cardio protection against myocardial infarction or heart attacks and less cardiac tissue damage. Studies revealed 70% reduction in injury from heart attack in mice on a high fat diet. However sustained fat intake does not provide cardio protective action but increases the risk of obesity and diabetes.
