Under the National Non-Communicable Disease Program,
citizens are being screened for hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes and
cancer.
"To meet the ever-increasing load of heart diseases, we
need to set up more CCUs. For this, we need more cardiologists and if they are
not available, we will have to develop appropriate skills of our doctors to do
not only successful screening but also provide treatment," Hooda said.
He added that he recently met Dr. Naresh Trehan, chairman
and managing director of Medanta, for preparing a model for spreading awareness
in villages for prevention of heart diseases.
