Andrew Lloyd-Webber Rendered Impotent After Prostate Surgery

Andrew Lloyd-Webber has revealed that he was rendered impotent after his prostate gland was removed in 2009.

The 63-year-old composer told Piers Morgan's Life Stories TV show that he first explored other therapies for the prostate cancer, but was assured by doctors that he had a 100% chance of recovery with the surgery.

"When I had a check-up, they told me I ought to have a biopsy. I’d already prepared myself for it," he said, adding that he was aware that one of the side-effects of the surgery was the inability to have sex.

"I’m alive; I have my music; I have my children. I am the luckiest man," he explained. "If I’d left it, the chances are I’d be on chemotherapy now and it would be a nightmare."

Lord Lloyd-Webber has been married three times and has five children. He said that he was not used to the situation and had accepted it.
