Why is Mesterolone Prescribed? (Indications)

Mesterolone is a dihydro derivative of testosterone, the male sex hormone. It is useful in the treatment of hypogonadism in males, where the testes do not produce enough testosterone. It may benefit men with infertility due to hypogonadism.

When should Mesterolone not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with prostate cancer, breast cancer, tumor in liver, very high calcium levels and those with allergy to the medication.

What is the dosage of Mesterolone?

Adult Males: Initial: 25 to 50 mg three times a day. Maintenance: 25 mg two to three times a day. This male hormone should not be administered to females.

How should Mesterolone be taken?

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

What are the warnings and precautions for Mesterolone?

• Regular examination of prostate gland is needed during treatment.
