Egypt has recorded the seventh human death due to bird flu, according to the recent communiqué by the Health Ministry.

Health ministry spokesperson Abdel Rahman Shaheen said "It is the seventh death due to bird flu. The lady contracted the disease while slaughtering domestic poultry, and was taken to hospital on October 4 after suffering from fever.”

Egypt has been in the line of fire, being in the path of the migratory birds, that has made it the worst hit non-Asian country since the onset of the epidemic in 2003. The world health organization has estimated that more than 150 people have succumbed to the disease due to the virulent H5N1 strain.
