A representative for the footballer's management company Gestifute confirmed the 25-year-old was a father but did not comment on the surrogacy report.

According to the newspaper, Ronaldo went to the Algarve region of mainland Portugal to meet the baby as soon as Portugal were eliminated from the World Cup by Spain on June 29.

He waited until then to name his son, the newspaper said.

The Telegraph reported that another Portuguese newspaper, Correio de Manha, said that Ronaldo's mother, Delores, and sisters Elma and Katia would raise the child.

Katia Aveiro told the newspaper that her brother was 'very happy about becoming a father'.

"He has brown eyes and brown hair like Cristiano," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted her as saying.

"He's very happy, of course! Who isn't happy having children?

"The baby looks like him, although he's still very small to see what his features will be like. He's very calm, he just eats and sleeps," she added.
