Many are opting for a gluten free diet either to aid weight loss, for health reasons or simply as a way to detox like many celebrities.

Victims of celiac disease are allergic to gluten, which is a protein present in wheat, barley and rye. Gluten harms the intestines and affects the absorption of vitamins and minerals in those suffering celiac disease.


To cater to the multitude of victims of celiac disease, the industry for gluten-free goods has grown leaps and bounds, with sales of gluten-free products predicted to touch $2.6 billion by 2012.
