First Graphical Entry in Oxford English Dictionary- 'HEART'

The first graphical entry in the 127-year old history of Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is the 'heart' symbol which means love. Readers looking up for the word 'heart' will find the symbol listed as a verb meaning 'to love'. This symbol is one of the 45,437 of the new definitions which have made its way in the latest online edition of OED.

Other entries include- OMG (Oh MY God), Wags (footballer's wives and girlfriends), singledom (growing number of single people), muffin top (a roll of flesh which hangs visibly over a person's tight-fitting waistband), LOL (Laugh out Loud), IMHO (in my humble opinion), TMI (too much information), BFF (best friends forever), FYI (for your information).

Chief Editor of OED said, "It is remarkable to see how much the environment has changed over the 10 years since the OED first went online." The Oxford Dictionary is considered as the most authoritative and comprehensive record of the English language in the world.
