Nelson Mandela is in critical condition after more than two weeks in hospital, say doctors. Mandela was previously said to be in a serious but stable condition.
According to news 24, the 94-year-old has been admitted in hospital four times since December and is being treated for a recurring lung infection.
South African President Jacob Zuma and ANC Deputy President Cyril Ramaphos visited Mandela in a Pretoria hospital and were told about his critical condition by the medical team.
Zuma said Mandela is well-looked after and ensured that the doctors are doing everything possible to improve his health.
After discussing Mandela's condition with his wife, Graca Machel, at the hospital, Zuma appealed to the nation to pray for the anti-apartheid hero.
