Glossary

Saturated fats - They are fats found in products of animal origin such as butter, ghee, dairy products, egg yolk, meat, etc.

Monounsaturated (MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) - They are fats found in nuts and oilseeds and are cardio-protective

Trans fats - They are hydrogenated fats added mostly to bakery products such as pies, pastries, cakes, biscuits, buns, etc.

High density Lipoprotein (HDL) - A lipoprotein that is composed of a high proportion of protein with little triglyceride and cholesterol content and also called as good cholesterol

Low density Lipoprotein (LDL) - A lipoprotein that is composed of a low proportion of protein with high triglyceride and cholesterol content and also called as bad cholesterol
