Some of the common causes of hyperventilation include-

  • Stress / anxiety (hyperventilation syndrome)
  • Taking many deep breaths
  • Deep, rapid breathing

  • Metabolic acidosis (hyperventilation is compensatory)
  • Excessive eating combined with lack of proper exercises
