When and How to Take Ropinirole

  • Ropinirole is available in the form of a tablet and an extended-release (long-acting) tablet to be taken orally.
  • It may be taken with food to prevent stomach upset.
  • When treating Parkinson's disease, the regular tablet is usually given three times a day, whereas the extended-release tablet is usually given once a day.
  • When treating restless legs syndrome with Ropinirole, the regular tablet is usually given once a day, 1 to 3 hours before bedtime.
  • Swallow the extended-release tablets as a whole instead of crushing, chewing or breaking them.
  • Take the medication at the same time every day for better results.
