When and How to Take Ropinirole
- Ropinirole is available in the form of a tablet and an extended-release (long-acting) tablet to be taken orally.
- It may be taken with food to prevent stomach upset.
- When treating Parkinson's disease, the regular tablet is usually given three times a day, whereas the extended-release tablet is usually given once a day.
- When treating restless legs syndrome with Ropinirole, the regular tablet is usually given once a day, 1 to 3 hours before bedtime.
- Swallow the extended-release tablets as a whole instead of crushing, chewing or breaking them.
- Take the medication at the same time every day for better results.
- Follow the instructions as given by the doctor's prescription.
- Do not stop taking the medication without first consulting the doctor.
