Why is Felbamate Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is an anticonvulsant, prescribed for seizures. It works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain.

When should Felbamate not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with blood dyscrasia, liver dysfunction, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Felbamate?

Adults (14 years of age and over)- PO- The recommended dose is 1,200 mg/day in 3 or 4 divided doses; increase in 600 mg increments every 2-week to 2,400mg/day and then 3,600 mg/day if indicated.

How should Felbamate be taken?

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food three or four times a day.
