A Digital Leap in Emergency Healthcare
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian inaugurated the new platform at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize emergency response. The upgraded registry, accessible via web and mobile applications, will collect real-time patient data from the 108 ambulance network and hospital emergency departments. This integration enables data-driven analysis, streamlines clinical decision-making, and ultimately improves patient care.
“TAEI 2.0 will ensure faster, more accurate emergency care while providing the government with a robust database for research, monitoring, and policymaking,” said Minister Subramanian.
From Pioneering Vision to Modern Emergency Network
First launched in 2017, TAEI has been a trailblazer in India’s public health system, converting traditional hospital casualty wards into modern emergency departments equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, and specially trained personnel.Currently, 113 TAEI centres operate across Tamil Nadu, including 36 medical college hospitals, 5 attached institutions, 31 district headquarters hospitals, and 41 sub-district hospitals. Many are strategically located along national and state highways to ensure immediate care for accident victims and other critically ill patients.
Focus on Life-Threatening Conditions
The initiative targets six core emergencies: myocardial infarction (heart attack), burns, poison and bites, preeclampsia/eclampsia (PREM), trauma, and stroke. This focus has enabled rapid triage and timely interventions, saving thousands of lives.“The upgraded TAEI Registry 2.0 not only enhances the speed and precision of emergency response but also equips the government with actionable insights for better healthcare planning,” Minister Subramanian added.
A Milestone for Tech-Driven Healthcare
With real-time analytics, digital integration, and a comprehensive emergency network, TAEI 2.0 represents a major stride toward building a technology-driven, equitable healthcare system in Tamil Nadu. The platform is expected to benefit both urban and rural populations, ensuring that every patient receives the right care at the right time.
