The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is mulling on whether to
recommend routine circumcision for all baby boys born in the US. This
measure is being considered so that the spread of HIV and other
infections may be curbed.
Experts feel that the recommendation is not controversial as nearly 80
percent of adult American men are already circumcised. They also feel
that since many studies show that circumcision reduces rates of HIV
transmission, the CDC should ignore cries of outrage and should simply
go ahead and recommend the procedure.
Many studies have also shown that circumcised men have lower rates of
other sexually transmitted diseases like herpes and also have lower
rates of penile cancers.
