Obesity is a Massive Issue Among American Pets
Rising obesity is a major problem not just among humans but also American pets after a new report revealed that more than half of the 170 million pets in the United States are suffering from obesity.

According to the report released by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, over 53 percent of pet cats and 55 percent of pet dogs are obese. The figures are almost mirrored by stats that show nearly 60 percent of the American population is overweight.

The fact was stressed on by the report which claimed that the major reason was not because the pets over indulged while their owners were out, but directly placed the blame on the owners by saying that they provided the pets with fattening food while failing to take them out for exercise.

"The bottom line with our annual surveys is that pets are battling excess weight just as their owners are. Our ultimate goal is to help pet owners' better care for both themselves and their pets through better diet, exercise and lifestyle strategies", the association founder, Ernie Ward said.
