No More Spam SMS, Thanks to SMSAssassin

There is a reason to rejoice for cell phone users, thanks to the ingenuity of technology wizards from the capital of India, we can now boast of a software that can efficiently separate spam SMSes on cell phones from regular ones.

Researchers from Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, have developed a software that can sift out spam messages on cell phones from regular messages. The software product is called SMSAssassin, and it employs the ‘Bayesian filtering’ technique to filter spams.

A 'self-destructing' text message system could spell the end for the leaked sex message, or the embarrassing late-night drunken rant.

This software can work on mobile phones that are based on the Nokia’s Symbian operating system, and it is only a matter of time when this product will be compatible on Android based phones and those that run on Windows mobile.
