 Hookah Bars in Hyderabad Raided
Excise department officials raided Hookah joints in Hyderabad. The officials collected about 98 samples from about 24 outlets, in reference to complaints received about some hookah joints serving hookah mixed with narcotic substances like ganja, cocaine or molasses. Hookah centers have permission to serve only fruit flavored hookahs.
Officials said, “The analysis reports would be out in a week and if any are found mixing narcotics, cases would be registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.”

“Though we did not found any minors having hookah, we counseled those found smoking hookah. Consumption of hookah even without tobacco or narcotics is dangerous as it contains nicotine, molasses and glycerin,’’ said excise department assistant commissioner, Satyanarayana Murthy.

These raids were conducted at Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Kondapur, Mehdipatnam, Narayanguda, Kacheguda, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, Nizampet, KPHB Colony and Sagar road.
