A health study conducted by Rotary Club of Delhi at two primary municipal schools in South Delhi has found many health problems plaguing children. Girls between the age of 5 and 11 years seem to be the worst affected.
Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna has asked the Education department to conduct health checks in 60 schools across the Capital to ascertain the health of primary schoolchildren.
Explaining the motive of the study, Ajay Jain, district governor of Rotary Delhi, said,"In the pilot project, health checks were conducted on primary schoolchildren under the age of 11 at two MCD schools in Malviya Nagar. The project aims to convert MCD schoolchildren’s regular health cards into smart cards. We will be working together with the Health and Education departments of the MCD to ensure that computerised records of all children are available in the future for any healthcare needs. The medical history of every child will be on record for future reference."
