A three-member inquiry committee has been instituted to look into the leakage of the question paper of the MBBS final year at the Goa Medical University.
The University also cancelled two exams, General Medicine I and II, just hours before they were scheduled to begin. Goa University Vice Chancellor Dilip Deobagkar revealed that they were surprised that the news of the leakage was first highlighted in a local newspaper, but added that the exams were immediately canceled.

The exams were canceled after the leaked papers were compared with the originals by Goa Medical College and Hospital Dean Dr V N Jindal.

“This is a very serious offence. The inquiry committee will submit its primary report within 48 hours while a detailed inquiry is in progress,” he added. “From the handwritten paper which was leaked, 14 out of 16 questions were matching. Hence we decided to cancel the General Medicine—II paper scheduled for today and the General Medicine—I paper conducted yesterday also stands cancelled.”

Initially three external and one internal examiner set question papers, which are then blended together and a moderator sets three papers. These papers are sent to the University to be printed and no one is aware as to which version is printed.

The Varsity will also review the process of setting the question papers following this incident.
