 Continued Safety Improvements in Hospitals
Louisiana celebrates the National Patient Safety Week.
Louisiana’s community hospitals provide safe and quality-driven care to their patients on a priority basis.

They have initiatives like the Louisiana Hospital Association Research and Education Foundation’s Hospital Engagement Network, where health care providers have made great progress in implementing scientifically proven practices in making patient care safe.

The hospitals receive resources and training through this initiative and other Hospital Engagement Networks. This not only provides safer care to patients but brings down costs and helps the efficient running of the hospital.

The hospitals focus on reducing catheter- associated urinary tract infections, surgical site infections and infections caused by ventilator usage. The health care community is dedicated to deliver healthy babies.

All maternity hospitals in the state work on having less than 3% early elective deliveries. This reduces visits to the neonatal intensive care units.
