Component of Dark Chocolate and Red Wine Boosts Brain Power
A chemical found both in dark chocolate and red wine can increase the ability of the brain to solve complex problems, a new study conducted by researchers at the Northumbria University Medical School reveals.
According to the study, the chemical substance, known as polyphenols, dilates or widens the blood vessels and thereby increasing the speed of the blood supply to the brain. This increases the level of oxygen and sugar in the brain and allows it to solve complex problems more easily.

The researchers arrived at the conclusion after analyzing the results of two different studies, conducted by Northumbria University, which involved a type of polyphenol called resveratrol, found in red wine. The researchers found that consuming resveratrol increased the blood flow to the brain.

Lead researcher Emma Wightman said that taking the supplement is safe for the body since there were no side effects. “There is research showing quite a lot of health benefits and there is nothing to suggest there are any adverse effects. You are not going to come to any harm”, she added.
