Boy to Undergo Radiotherapy for Brain Tumor Against Mother’s Wishes, Rules Court

The mother of a seven year old boy who has a brain tumor has lost her legal fight in preventing him from undergoing radiotherapy after a court ruled that he will be provided treatment against his mother’s wishes. Neon Roberts was diagnosed with a tumor in his brain last year and though doctors removed most of the tumor in a surgery, some of it remained and required another surgery.

Neon’s mother, Sally Roberts had earlier went into hiding with her son to prevent him from having the surgery but both mother and son were later found unharmed.

On being told that preventing Neon from undergoing radio therapy could mean that he could die, Sally said that she was concerned over the long term effects of the procedure, including brain damage and infertility.
