Senior Health Officials have divulged that AIDS is no more restricted to just risk groups alone in China.

Over 190 new AIDS cases are added each day according to statistics with almost one percent of all pregnant women are doubted to be AIDS positive. It is alarming to note that like Africa, which has the largest number of AIDS/HIV infections where the mode of infection is now common through even heterosexual contact China too has more number of infections being spread through heterosexual contact. This shows that its no more just drug pushers, sex workers and homosexuals who stand a higher risk in contracting AIDS in China.

Deputy director general of the bureau of diseases prevention and control at the Ministry of Health Hao Yang told media this week that statistics reveal that about 48% of new AIDS infection is reportedly from sexual contact. First line proved drugs have helped to prolong the lives of almost 650,000 HIV infected persons in China . But HIV a retro virus, is known to mutate rapidly if medication is not taken in the required dosage and at proper time intervals and this can pose an even more difficult obstacle in the way of treatment. Many with AIDS have begun to show signs of resistance to anti retroviral drugs because of the lack in maintaining a strict regimen with therapy says activists in China. At a forum organized by the World Health Organization, in Beijing about 60 doctors from rural areas came together to discuss the problems and needs of people with AIDS .

It’s been made compulsory in China now that all entertainment centers in China should make arrangements from condoms to be made available to the public. Drug rehabilitation and de addiction clinics are also being rapidly set up all across the nation to combat drug addiction and to curb the spread of AIDS/HIV infection through infected needles.
