Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on June 4, 2015, said that safety checks on Maggi instant noodles had been ordered, and action in the matter would be taken only after test reports were in.

While addressing a press conference, Paswan said, "The union government had taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and ordered the checks.
