Information about Malaria causing Mosquito

Life cycle of Anopheles Mosquito:

  • 3,500 species of Mosquitoes are present.
  • There are 430 Anopheles species present, of which only 30-40 species can act as Potential vectors for transmitting Malaria.
  • Malaria is transmitted by different species of Anopheles mosquitoes in different regions.
  • Anopheles mosquitoes undergo four stages in their Life cycle, the first three stages occurs in water.

Egg stage:

  • Following a blood meal, the female mosquito lays eggs in water..
  • The eggs are spindle shaped and are brown/black in color. The female mosquito lays about 50 to 150 eggs in water..
  • Eggs are mostly laid in singles and have lateral air floats, which help them to float in water.

Larval stage:

  • Larval stage has head, thorax and abdomen region, with two pairs of eyes..
  • It has feeding brushes, which help them to feed..
  • Respiratory apparatus is present in the abdomen..
  • Larva is the growing stage and the larva eats plentifully

Pupa stage:

  • This stage is the resting or quiescent stage and it does not take any food.
  • The pupa is comma -shaped.
  • The pupa stage is very sensitive to movement and moves away from the source of disturbance.

Adult stage:

  • The outer skin of the pupa breaks and the mosquito emerges from it.
  • It takes ten to twelve days for completing the life cycle from egg stage to adult stage.

Thanks for write-pus. Its very informative. You only talked about the treatment of malaria, but what about the treatment/avoidance of the Malaria Relapses, which is very important?
