Side effect(s) of Acetohexamide

Read the side effects of Acetohexamide as described in the medical literature. In case of any doubt consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Most Common - Swelling, rapid weight gain, increased urination, pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion, weakness.

Gastrointestinal - Nausea, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, low fever, clay-colored stools, jaundice.

Central Nervous System - Dizziness, drowsiness.

Miscellaneous - Fever, sore throat and headache.

Other Precautions : * Avoid excess dosage.

Drug Name : Acetohexamide

Acetohexamide is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus for controlling the high blood sugar level together with diet and exercise. It stimulates the pancreas to secrete insulin and hence it should not be used in type 1 diabetes mellitus.
