Why is Sucralfate Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is a gastric protective agent, prescribed for intestinal ulcers.

When should Sucralfate not be taken? (Contraindications)

Hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Sucralfate?

Adult- PO- The recommended dosage for duodenal ulcer is 1 g four times per day on an empty stomach.

How should Sucralfate be taken?

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, on an empty stomach.

What are the warnings and precautions for Sucralfate?

• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart, kidney disease, sugar, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

Gastrointestinal - Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, gastric discomfort, indigestion, flatulence and dry mouth.
