This medication is an antineoplastic agent, prescribed for colon or rectal cancer, either alone or in combination with other medications. It is an anti-cancer drug. It stops the growth of cancer cells.When should Irinotecan not be taken? (Contraindications)
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug, and patients with history of severe liver disease, intestinal obstruction and long-lasting intestinal inflammation.What is the dosage of Irinotecan?
IV- The recommended dose is 125mg/ m2 over 90 minutes infusion, weekly for 4 weeks followed by a gap of 2 weeks.How should Irinotecan be taken?

Central Nervous System- Dizziness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, weakness, headache, lightheadedness, confusion, dizziness and discomfort.Gastrointestinal- Constipation, gas, increased salivation, indigestion, loss of appetite, mouth sores, nausea, stomach pain/cramps, dehydration and diarrhea.
Skin- Hair loss, sweating, redness or swelling at the injection site.
Musculoskeletal- Back pain, numbness of an arm or leg, one-sided weakness, pain in the groin or lower legs.
Miscellaneous- Cough, flushing, tearing, weight loss, chest pain, fainting, fever, chills and shortness of breath.
