This medication is an anti-inflammatory enzyme, prescribed for abscesses, ulcers, surgery, or traumatic injuries and enzymatic zonulysis for intracapsular lens extraction. It helps in breakdown of proteins and polypeptides.

When should Chymotrypsin Alfa not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with severe liver, kidney impairment, peptic ulcer, high vitreous pressure, and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Chymotrypsin Alfa?

Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 1 to 2 lakh units USP, four times per day for 10 days.
Ophthalmic: IM- The recommended dose is 1-2 mL of a 1:5,000 diluted solution.
