Blind uterine horn - Defect in the uterus present from birth. Contraction - Shortening of a muscle. Endometrial polyps - They are growths from the lining of the uterus. Endometriosis - In this condition the cells that normally grow inside the uterus instead grow outside the uterus. Endometrium - It is the mucous membrane lining the inside of the uterus. Fibroids - They are benign tumors of the smooth muscle of the uterus and are the most common reason for performing a hysterectomy. Hormones - Chemical substances produced in the body, which control the activity of certain cells. Ibuprofen - It is a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Intra uterine device - It is a device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. Menarche - The time when menstruation first begins in a girl’s life. Nausea - Urge to vomit. Ovulation - is the process of release of a ripe egg from the ovary. Pelvis – It is the lower part of the abdomen. Progesterone - It is a hormone produced by the corpus luteum and placenta. Prostaglandins - They are hormone like substances that bring about contraction and relaxation of smooth muscles, dilatation and constriction of blood vessels and modulation of inflammation. Vasoconstriction - It is narrowing of blood vessels. |

Posted on: 03/17/2011 I am one of those lucky women who have not experienced dysmenorrhea!
If you're a woman and your dysmenorrhea is so painful that it disrupts your daily routine, better to have yourself checked by a doctor, specifically an OB-GYN. You might have an underlying problem that contributes to the dysmenorrhea. |
