The MS Ramaiah College management had informed the concerned Head of the Department. This incident was also referred to the disciplinary committee of the college. Durgi was found guilty of the charges and she also confessed in writing to the charges leveled against her. Therefore, the management handed over a 6-month suspension order to Durgi.

Durgi's father, Hanuman Shikhavath has filed FIR with the Sanjaynagar Police. However, the college management has maintained that a similar policy was adopted by the institution in other cases of academic misconduct and dishonesty.
