Read this without batting an eyelid, however tired or sleep deprived you are! Two-thirds of Brits are not getting along well with their beds, pillows and accompaniments and are simply tossing around till the wee hours, rendering them sleep deprived by more than 4 hours on each night, according to a recent survey.
The research also indicates the unhealthy implications of sleep deprivation that include poor concentration, memory lapses, swinging moods, obesity, diabetes, depression, marital spats and even accidents. The most sleep-deprived people in England happened to be people from the south of England, nearly 42% complained less than five hrs of sleep each night and the most disconcerting enemy of a good night’s sleep happened to be a snoring partner !
Professor Fred Zijlstra, from Surrey University's Sleep Research Centre, said "People work ever-longer hours and then take files home or check their e-mails in the evening. New technology means they are on call 24/7."
