Over 90 deaths have registered in Uttar Pradesh due to encephalitis since January this year, and the situation has aggravated after the onset of monsoon.
Although the farmers are happy with the arrival of monsoon, the fear of encephalitis epidemic has also spread.

Mosquito-borne diseases, like malaria, filaria, dengue, etc are common in places conducive of mosquito breeding. Swamps, ponds and stagnated drainage provide optimal breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Talking to the media persons on Sunday, Dr. R N Singh, a child specialist blamed the administration for ignoring the saying about prevention being better than cure.
"The homework to be done in January and February was not done. Vaccination was not given on time, pigsties were not built, fresh drinking water was not made available, and health related information was not given to people," Dr. Singh said.
