One of the most exhaustive and detailed analysis of eating disorders has revealed that over half a million U.S. teens are victims of some form of eating disorder, and alarmingly most have not approached a specialist for treatment. The analysis also revealed that the most common among the eating disorders, was binge-eating disorder with more than 1.5 % of surveyed teens as victims. 0.3 % teens suffered anorexia, and below 1 percent were victims of bulimia.
Above 50% of teens also suffered some other forms of mental disorders, depression and anxiety. Many reported thoughts of suicide, with some confessing to suicide attempts.
