 Swine Flu Claims Over 190 Lives in January in India
Swine flu has claimed over 190 lives in India in January alone this year, with Telangana having reported the highest number of cases of people afflicted with the H1N1 virus followed by Delhi.
Swine flu is caused by the H1N1 virus, which causes symptoms similar to those produced by other influenza viruses. Symptoms for swine flu include high fever, cough, sore throat, headache, muscle pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, respiratory problems, stomach pain and internal and external bleeding.

It is transmitted to people primarily from ticks and livestock animals with an incubation period of up to 9-days. Human-to-human transmission takes about 2-weeks.
